We offer for your consideration this vintage hunting knife
This knife came to us through an estate sale. The previous owner was and avid sportsman, and collector of knives, both military and sports.
This knife is a classic Bowie style knife from around the late 1960/ early 1970s.It is a German made bone handled, drop point fixed blade, with leather sheath.This knife has the RUKO Solingen brand name stamped on the ricasso, the obverse ricasso is stamped Solingen Germany.The 6 3/16ths inch blade is a drop point, with "Original Bowie Knife " stamped into one side. The guard is a gentle S shape and made of heavy sheet brass. The handle has the look of dark natural bone, carved with indentation to provide a good grip. The pommel is aluminum, and the the tang fastener is visible at the end.This knife is in good condition, the blade shows no sign of previous sharpening, the edge looks original. The drop point is not edged.
The sheath is natural leather with a snap loop closure. The back of the sheath has a slit for a belt loop. The sheath has a tooled image of a 10 point stag on it. There is rivet reinforcing and sewn sewn edges. The sheath is a bit dry, and some of the stitches have come out and there is some tearing around the area of the snap loop. (see pictures)
