Guitar (gi-'tr'). n. best friend, protector, lover, confidence builder; helps with my problems; part of me; sexual and sensual; lost to it; symbol of freedom, power, and rebellion; merely wood and strings.
This unique excursion into what the guitar is and what it represents to players and fans is the first in a series of programs exploring contemporary rock musicians and their instruments.
Through interview and performance, 30 of the world's greatest guitarists from England, New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and Austin define the guitar with host Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers). Exciting concert segments include Les Paul, Al Di Meola, and Brian May; Chet Atkins and Steve Cropper; Brian Setzer, John Entwistle, Billy Burnette, Buzz Feiten and Aynsley Dunbar.
