Soth Of Heaven,West of Hell (Sdtk)-Dwight Yoakam( 2001)
Being a huge Dwight Yoakam fan, I rented this dvd, the first time I seen it at my local video store. I was very let down with the film. It seemed to lack any type of plot, or much action at all. And normally I enjoy Westerns,and I also feel Dwight Yoakam is a fine actor,as well as a terrific singer. That being said, I held off on buying this soundtrack cd, mainly because I figured it too,would disappoint. I was wrong, I enjoyed it from start to finish. I think it contains some of Yoakam's best songs. Especially the collaboration with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons,"Last Thing Smokin'". I was very pleasantly surprised with it and would recommend any other Dwight fan to check it out sometime. Now, if I can just find a good buy on this movie on ebay, I'm willin' to give it too, a second chance. A ... Very enjoyable soundtrack from Dwight Yoakam's movie South of Heaven...
One would not necessarily have to be a fan of the movie to enjoy this soundtrack. Dwight Yoakam is quite a talented man with both his singing, acting and directing abilities. If you enjoyed the movie I recommend this CD as part of your collection. There's quite a bit of dialogue from the movie between tracks that will take you back to that scene in your mind. Beautiful renditions of songs from several genres that are reminiscent of another place and another time.One would not necessarily have to be a fan of the movie to enjoy this soundtrack. Dwight Yoakam is exceptional.
I love, love, love Dwight Yoakam's music and songwriting skills. I have followed him since the beginning and still to this day absolutely love his music. He is also a great actor, example "Sling Blade". He is outstanding in all he does. I truly love his music. You will enjoy it.
