    Remarkably Unremarkable

I recently discovered that McVee produced a second solo album, so I broke out her first album and replayed it for the first time in several years. Number one album is excellent. Number two album is not so great. I realize that taste in music is personal, but I found her latest album to be monotonous (that drum beat is the same in almost every song and became annoying) and both the music and the vocals are unmemorable. As much as I liked McVee in Fleetwood Mac, I doubt that I will replay this CD. It does nothing for me. I kept checking the number of the song to see how many more I would have to listen to reach the end of the album. Too bad. She used to be an excellent song writer.

  • A Must for any Christie McVie Fan

Christie wanted to make a low-key, intimate, mellow record that's more about atmosphere than songwriting. It makes In the Meantime an unassuming return to recording -- it's hardly a big splash that some might expect after a 20-year wait between solo records -- and it's not bad. It's not particularly memorable since the songs are so low-key that they tend to float by one by one, sustaining the friendly, relaxed vibe, but not going much beyond that, either. Yet, there's a certain charm in that, especially in comparison to the big-budget, widescreen epics of such Mac albums as Tango in the Night, where each track was meticulously arranged and assembled piece by piece. Here, McVie is comfortable, playing with a sympathetic band, and sounding at ease for the first time in years. It's nice to ...

  • In the Meantime - McVie, Christine (CD 2004)

I bought this cd because I've been listening to her since she joined Fleetwood Mac, in the early '70's. This her 2nd solo cd since leaving the group. Music and lyrics are outstanding, and her voice is still beautiful and sultry. It took me 3 days to get past the first 3 songs of the cd...that's how great they are, my favorite the 3rd song "Northern Star"..This whole cd from first cut to last, is simply outstanding. For sure - Christine McVie can stand on her own. If you ever get a chance to see her solo in concert, as I did, at the Beacon Theatre in NYC in the late '80's..spend whatever money you have to, to get a ticket. The concert will leave you breathless, and give you a memory to last you a lifetime. I recommend this cd highly!!

  • get this cd if you like her

Ever since Bare Trees(1974)I have been emotional over Christine McVie songs. She still has "warm ways" in this 2004 cd. Northern Star,Calumny,So Sincere are great & feeling songs. Please understand that I am biased and still occasionally play The Legendary Christine Perfect album. I'm sad that she is now retired.

  • miss you

    great cd thanks
