Just realizing that basically every song I remember loving as a little kid was by Fleetwood Mac.
My all time favorite experience was going to the Stevie Nicks concert because my mom surprised me with 12th row seats when I thought we were getting the lawn!! Not to mention my birthday was the next day. More experiences would have to be making my friend Jen listen to "Not That Funny" on the Live album. She can't stand it!!.
Seeing them in concert and I had 10th row seats! I also met Stevie's mother at her antique shop in Arizona this summer - what an experience - I was on cloud 9!!
Stevie shaking her fist at me while I was shaking mine, during go your own way last FM concert ever, Maryland, Nov. 1997
The Rumours year. You either loved or hated it and most loved it. Although, I had heard BN album prior to FM albums it was later that I put the name with a face. I was in awe. During my senior year in HS I suggested that we se tusk as a theme for our class entry spirit week, which is like a roman display. School colors etc. We were the Spartan fitting. By the time it was over these Christian bros were quite distraught with us. We had real farm animals, hay, corn stalks. Needless to say they just didn't get it. The whole idea of pep rallies didn't matter. The world was bigger than us. We finished last.
Nothing yet, besides drinking lots of caffeine to stay up until 3 a.m. to watch the VH1 special reunion concert!
Shocking my parents with FM trivia since they grew up with the Mac...
Any time I can absorb Lindsey's depth....
Peter Green Splinter Group at Tramps NYC in
1998!
When I first heard the song Silver Springs. It had this effect on me and I've never quite recovered from that.
I was there the night in 1974 in Birmingham, Alabama when Lindsey and Stevie announced they had joined Fleetwood mac. Like the rest of the audience I was stunned-but in retrospect I am glad I was there to see history being made.
First time watching their performance live on TV when The Dance came out. I was amazed by their on stage presence and energy, especially Lindsey. Also the long history and love between him and Stevie was very obvious.
Just to listen to their music, to me is a great experience...
The Dance reunion. I thought it was great how they all got together and proved no matter what age they are number one.
Seeing Stevie's concert last month... we have both aged, but she is still as magical as
ever.
Mask show in august of 1990 at Jones beach...I was crushed up against the stage and loving every minute of it. it was just one of those magical experiences.
Seeing Stevie's show and getting 14th row seats. Not bad eh'.
I went to the Mask concert in Philadelphia. The show was great. Stevie was so close to me I could almost touch her. I was very surprised at how tiny she was, and how heavy! When your 5'1 there's just nowhere for any extra to go! The best part of the night though was seeing the assortment of people there. All ages, all walks of life. It was great seeing Stevie and the band adored. No matter that Lindsey was gone, that Stevie was really heavy. Mac and Stevie fans are a different kind of people. They love and admire unconditionally and are open to great change.
I have too many to chose
from!!!
Galloping all over my school's campus while yelling "TUSK!" at the top of my lungs with friends.
The very first time I heard them! I was probably about 4 and I heard Don't Stop. It was great! I was
hooked!
Seeing the "Hold Me" video for the first time. Lindsey looked to sexy for his own good...
Seeing Stevie on her Enchanted tour. She was SO great, it was probably one of the greatest experiences of my life. She talked to us and seemed so happy and she looked amazing! She did a kick at the end of Standback that I thought was awesome!
As an avid music lover (I live and breath music.) I had to ad this "Tango..." tape to my collection... even without even hearing a song from it... without knowing who Fleetwood Mac was. The deal with my parents was I had to listen to their "Rumours" album, first. Then if I liked it, they would order "Tango..." for me. I loved "Rumours"! Don't forget... I was only twelve then, and "Rumours" was my favorite album! Forget Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, or Wham! When "Tango" arrived in the mail, I literally wore the tape! Thank God the CD revolution wasn't far away... Ever since then... I've been a HUGE FM fan...
I had the privilege of seeing Fleetwood Mac live in London, Ontario...they were touring Bare Trees album at the time. While the tension among the band members was noticeable, they did play exceptionally well, and I remember the Bare Trees song itself being a standout. I also remember Christine being absolutely beautiful and Mick Fleetwood being HUGE and an incredibly stunning drummer. Danny Kirwan's writing, singing and playing still move me deeply.
Other than the live concert, I remember hearing Oh Well, soon after it came out, while I was very high on chemicals. I thought it was one of the most remarkably beautiful musical experiences I ever had. The track still gives me chills when I hear it.
Since I've met them (I WISH!!!), I guess my favorite experiences would be every time I buy a new cd from them, which happens a lot because I just became a fan not too long ago, and I don't have all there cd's yet.
Going to two of their shows during the '97 reunion tour. They rocked. And my best friend and I knew we would be great friends after we both saw that one another had the Greatest Hits CD!
I was eight years old and I received "Rumours" on vinyl as a gift from my parents....I've been hooked ever since...that and seeing Stevie do "Gold Dust Woman" and "Rhiannon" live.
Seeing, for the first time, a one hour version of their Dance Reunion concert which the BBC showed during Christmas 1997. It was truly amazing and stunning. The sound and the whole ambience, even over the TV, was one of warmth, togetherness and enjoyment. Brilliant! It certainly rekindled my interest in FM, which had waned somewhat after Lindsey left the band in 1987.
Um, I'd rather not...:)
Tango in the night concert; Cincinnati, Ohio, around 1987. Worst was when my supposed boyfriend went to two concerts without me in the 70s
Easy--my very first Fleetwood Mac concert on October 11, 1997!!! I didn't think I'd *ever* get a chance to see the Mac live....I was pleasantly surprised. :)
When I heard Silver Springs for the first time. It just got me all misty eyed, it was just beautiful. It was that song that got me into FM.
On The Dance video, after Landslide when Stevie and Lindsey hugged and she kissed him I just about melted.
Seeing Stevie for the first time in Las Vegas on her Enchanted tour
Well my favorite experience does not actually involve the whole band, only Stevie.. On Aug. 2, 1998 I met her backstage at her concert.. I cried the whole time out of happiness. It was my b-day too.. she gave me tons of hug and and autographed pic.. I was so happy.. I love her.
Seeing them live...I caught them on the last show of the Dance tour...I bawled...it was
amazing.
My very first Fleetwood Mac concert. I was in awe of everything that was happening and after that night, I knew I wanted to be a musician.
The first time I heard FM, I had come home from school, decided to take a nap. Before I took my nap, I checked to see what was on MTV. What I saw was a beautiful angel singing her heart out, singing with such passion, emotion it was beyond words. What it was was Stevie nicks singing "Silver springs" and from that day on I was and still am a die-hard Fleetwood Mac fan.
When I hear them during visits to my friends' house to see their daughter Rumour!
In the late 70's I was introduced to a new cousin that I had not met. We were both in the high school. I remember sitting in her house cross-legged on the floor playing cards and listening to FM albums. We hit it off immediately and began confessing to each other our stories of boy friends (and crushes), sex and other experiences that we would not want other mothers to know about. It was a neat experience -filled with innocence yet at the same time, we felt like we were so "grown up and worldly". From listening to interviews with the band members, at that time, they felt much the same way.
Seeing them get the lifetime achievement award at the 1998 Brit awards
I got a copy of Rumours for Christmas 1982. I had gotten Mirage and by then my obsession with Fleetwood Mac was in motion. I had read interviews but did not know any of the songs by name. Upon opening my present and seeing Rumours I told my aunt (who had given it to me) how happy I was to get it because I had heard so much about the album but had not heard any of the songs. When I played the tape I was surprised to find out that I had heard most of it.
Having Lindsey show up at the Behind The Mask
tour!
Seeing them in concert on Thanksgiving of '97. It was absolutely incredible and a very intense experience.
Meeting Lindsey Buckingham, he is the coolest guy alive!
My first (and so far only) Fleetwood Mac concert. I felt like my entire life had led up to that point. After being raised on their music I was now in the same arena w/them. It was like being in the vicinity of GOD.
Watching Mick bang the crap out of the drum pads on his chest during his solo at the Maple Leaf Gardens gig in 87. All the while looking like a man possessed! Brilliant!!
I WENT TO A CONCERT WHEN I WAS 21 AND I GOT TO TOUCH LINDSEY BUCKINGSHAM'S ASS!
This isn't a Fleetwood Mac experience per se, but for her Enchanted tour, Stevie Nicks played in Birmingham (where I live) on my birthday...talk about a sign...
Just discovering their music. It has opened a door in my life. I have found my creative
niche.
My dad is the person who is responsible for my love of Fleetwood Mac. I've pretty much listened to Fleetwood Mac since my days in the cradle. Last year, for my 18th birthday, my dad got us tickets to see them. That had to have been the greatest...me and my dad watching FM together...Stevie and Lindsey playing "Landslide" 20 yards in front of us. It was a great night.
listening to The Dance going about 120 miles p/h in a race in a 88 mustang - going to see them opening night, 10/17/97 Hartford meadows, watching people sell their clothes and shoes to get tickets from the scaplers- listing to the first beats in The Chain knowing we were the lucky thousands to hear the Mac reunite- getting front row seats from my buddy Anthony for the opening Stevie enchanted show 5-28-98 - met him off this site- running up to the middle of the stage under the mic getting smashed beaten and kicked just to grab her hand for a second- WOW! I'm only seventeen and I've got lots!!!!
I had a dream that I met Stevie Nicks in an elevator, but I was the only one who recognized her. It was really
weird!!
When I got an "A" (the highest grade in the college class) on my interpretation of the music and lyrics of "Go Your Own Way."
When I first heard rumours-- I could not believe any one would make an album where every song was absolutely first class stuff.
Seeing Stevie in concert twice on the Enchanted tour. (Columbus and Cincinnati) IT was FANTASTIC (this was also my fist experience seeing any member of FM in
concert)
My father gave me his copy of rumours on vinyl for my birthday last year. I treasure it.
I happened to get tickets at the last minute in St. Louis, Mo. I was on the floor (sixteenth row). This was a dream come true for me. I had never got to see them before. I thought they would never get back together. It was beautiful and the energy there was nothing I'd ever felt before
Paying $300 to see them twice! Sike- the price may have been steep but it was well worth it! Seeing them live was like a religious experience. And seeing Stevie 5th row was the best! She is so hilarious!
The concert with my mom. Although I couldn't go to the concert when MTV aired it me and my mom both sat down to watch it together. It was great!!
This is pretty dumb, but one time I was shopping for some shaving cream and I couldn't decide what kind I should purchase. So on one of the bottles it said, 'Prevents NICKS'. So I bought that one. Dumb story, huh? :)
The first Time I saw Lindsey in the Hold Me
Video
Hearing them for the first time.
Well... let's see... I guess it would be... well there's so many. One would definitely be that Christine has the same b-day as me-- July 12th!! Also, dusting off the old tapes in our basement, and the old records and listening to some of them for the first time was completely magical, like "Wow, this is what I've been missing. Why for so
long?"
I have never met them but my brothers and I made a Fleetwood Mac video.
I had a Fleetwood Mac - a - thon with a friend of mine.
...I also remember a time when I was not "officially" a fan--but, FM was a major part of my life. When "dreams" came out, I was in my late teens and summer vacation meant freedom from school and responsibility. It was very long days at the beach and long, gypsy skirts (or short shorts and halters) strawberry flavored lipgloss and the smell of Coppertone. It was also the sound of Stevie Nicks coming from everyone's AM radios. There wasn't another song like it or another voice like Stevie's. When I remember those days, I remember it with a Fleetwood Mac song as a backdrop, and that's pretty special.
I'm too young to have been able to see them originally.... Couldn't go to the Dance, the only night I could get tickets was on a school night...
I saw Stevie two days after my b-day the Coca-Cola Starlake Amphitheater during her Enchanted tour. I begged for months for my little piece of MAC heaven. I just wish that I could see all of them because I love Christine. And my Dad making me listen to Penguin when I said I didn't want to listen to old people's music when I was, like, 9. I didn't remember singing along with Christine on "Prove Your Love" from HEROES ARE HARD TO FIND when I was around 4 or 5. Stevie, you did a great job! Now if you could just talk to the rest of them and tour so I can see all of you guys!
:)
The Dance Tour in Indianapolis. I was in the second row and I SWEAR Stevie looked at me!
Getting drunk at Dreams
Playing "Little Lies" to my neighbour over walkie-talkies when we were both little (he died in a car crash a few months ago)
Hopping on a bus to Atlantic City to see the band. I had bought the tickets the morning of the concert and it was the best decision I ever made.
When I bought their first album it gave me this feeling I can't explain......it was so enchanting....
I live in Italy, man! They NEVER come here...
Seeing them live in Pittsburgh, PA for the Behind the Mask tour. After a 7 minute standing ovation, they returned to the stage to play 2 more songs...After another 7-10 standing ovation (they even turned the house lights on) A hint for everyone to leave ... They returned to the stage and played like four more songs! It was one of the best moments of my life…
When my friends bought me all this Lindsey stuff just to be nice!
Listening to Legacy, the tribute to Rumours and then, deciding I should try the actual album. Then I discovered the wonderful Fleetwood Mac!
This web-page!! I'm 15 and I thought I was the only person on the planet who worshiped Fleetwood Mac. You proved me wrong, and have given me new hope. Don't stop (No pun intended) with these pages! You folks are
saints!!!!
Stevie & Lindsey's hug at the end of Silver
Springs
Figuring out the bass riff in The Chain
The first time I saw the Gypsy video! I was literally Enchanted!
When I bought every Fleetwood Mac album at 1 time. The record store clerk just stared.
I have to say that meeting Lindsey Buckingham in July of 1993 was an absolute thrill. He was being interviewed by a local radio station at a bar in Pontiac, Michigan. It was not a well publicized event, and occurred during the middle of the week in the afternoon. As a result there was not a huge crowd of people, so it turned out to be a very intimate setting. Lindsey sang songs and took some requests, answered questions, signed autographs, etc. It was very informal. It seemed so magical. I got my picture taken with him. It was just a terrific day.
Travelling from Melbourne to LA in November 1990 to see Christine & Stevie play their "final" concert with The Mac. Unable to hire a car, a friend and I spent $90 on cab fare from Anaheim. But when Lindsay appeared on stage to perform an acoustic "Landslide" with Stevie - it was worth every
cent.
I threw out one lyric for a song not everybody knows, and somebody knew it!! I thought that was pretty cool... they're a lot of Mac-heads out there!!
My Mom used to play a mix tape in the car. There were 2 songs by FM: Say you Love Me and Rhiannon: the best songs on the tape. When my Mom put on the record that had those songs, I recognized them instantly. Once I found out it was FM, I became and instant fan.
In the fall of 1975, my girlfriend and I were big Buckingham Nicks fans (I was also a big Fleetwood Mac fan). We fell in love with the new 'Fleetwood Mac' album and with each other. I'm sure that Christine McVie's voice had a lot to do with both.
When I first heard Silver Springs. Love at first song!
All the time I try to connect special things in my life to the date and or year of my birth and my favorite number..21 I just found out that Fleetwood Mac (someone told me this) won their grammy (album of the year) in the 21st grammy awards!
… I almost exploded the first time I heard one of their songs on in a department store. I'd say that was an "experience".
I lived in L.A. in the early 80's, I was on the street corner waiting to cross and a car pulled up at the light-Mick Fleetwood looked at me- I smiled and then he smiled and waved kind of non-chalantly. I know it was only a brief moment in time-but it was MY moment!
... It was really exciting to find out that I would have a chance to see and hear them together now [in 1997]. Now, I can have conversations with my mom (who is a huge fan) about them. It's too much fun.
The first time I ever visited the Penguin! (Okay, maybe I'm sucking up a little...)
Watching Lucy Lawless (as Stevie) plugging her restaurant chain, Stevie Nicks Fajita Roundup, with my mom. "Now there you go again, you say, you want burritos..."
Buying a black suit jacket just like Christine's!!!!
I got to go to the taping of Stevie's VH1 Storytellers and it was amazing. Stevie has such a connection with her audience. It felt like you were in her living room listening to her sing.
…I did take up the bass guitar solely because of John McVie and then promptly took to drumming instead. My birthday is the day after Mick's - it's as close as I can get to "an experience".
It has to be on "The Dance" concert, when the marching band suddenly comes out during "Tusk". The chemistry is absolutely chilling--I mean, you've got the whole big reunion, the power of "Tusk" itself, put together with the marching band...it totally blows you away.
…They were playing THE DANCE Show on VH1.My mom made me and my brothers and sisters sit there and watch it.We hated it! ..Since she taped it she watched it over again and again. So it kinda grew on me.Then she bought the CD.Then I LOVED them…
At my one and only concert that I went to see I went with my father to the show on November 26,1997 in Albany, NY. My father had been waiting twenty years to see them and I had been waiting twenty weeks!!!
The only Fleetwood Mac concert in Nürnberg since now, where I'd been with my woman.
I saw FM about ten years ago and Christine McVie's voice just soared thru the coliseum - beautiful. And I just couldn't believe all the girls dressed up like Stevie, I never realized people did that!
When I was moved by "I'm So Afraid" in concert, which was the first time I heard the song. Coincidentally, this was a very lonely time for me, and I listened to the song from a distance in a dark cranny of the mezzanine area by myself! But after listening to that phenomenal guitar solo, I felt whole!
Getting one of Mick's broken drum sticks during The Dance stop in Chicago.
The first time I ever heard the Mac... I was about six years old. My mom and I were riding in the car and listening to music. "Dreams" came on the radio, and I listened very intently. Noticing my mesmerization, my mother (also a fan) said, "That's Fleetwood Mac, Sara. Stevie Nicks is singing." In vague confusion, I said 'But it doesn't sound like a boy at all!'
I watch the Dance video and feel emotionally connected with them and their music to the point of tears. I know I am not the only one that feels this way. I can only hope and pray that I will get the opportunity to see them live.
My senior year in high-school I had a concert (a very small one), and played Landslide for my boyfriend of three years. Every year since I have played it on our anniversary.
When a friend at school who didn't know I was into FM mentioned that he had "The Chain" stuck in his head. I paused for a moment, then he continued "You know, "The Chain", by Fleetwood Mac." I nodded slowly, and mentioned that I was a big FM fan. So that was fun. Of course, after that -I- had "The Chain" stuck in my head the rest of the day. =)
That I used to hate them.... but I saw The Dance and I fell in love with them. They are the best!!!!!!!!!!!
I was home alone and put on "the dance"-- the video-- and turned the volume up almost all the way and absolutely had a blast.. I sang.. I danced to every song I was able to dance to... it was incredible, I think I was in the perfect mood to watch it and the conditions were just right... it's hard to explain... I was consumed by the music.. I've never seen them in concert and that night convinced me that I really really need to :)
Dressing up as Stevie when I was a kid. I thought Christine McVie was blind on the back of Rumours when I was younger, because her bandana is over her eyes. I must have been a strange child!!!
…Isn't it strange that the love for their music never fades over time? People scoff when you listen to old music, unless its like Jimi Hendrix or something else, but look what endures: Fleetwood Mac
The first time I heard Rhiannon in the 7th grade. My friends and I were so in love with Fleetwood Mac (and especially Stevie), the way some girls today are in love with the Spice Girls!
When I was singing to a box cover from the Children Of God album and all of my friends walked in while I was singing Albatross!
The first time I ever heard them was on the Silver Springs video. I was blown away. I bought the album and with each new song I became even more awestruck…
When I did the rattlesnake shake with the song
Finally seeing them in concert., albeit without Lindsey.During the "Shake the Cage " tour in 1990.I went with friends but could only get 1 floor ticket. I rushed the stage during "Go your own way".Stevie almost touched my hand and John's guitar pick slipped through my fingers as he tossed it to the crowd. It was wonderful but I missed Lindsey.
Seeing FM in Boston in the new Boston Tea Party back when they were a blues band back farther than I care to remember (pre Christine, Bob Welch, B/N)
The day I heard "Silver Springs" and started to cry because it described how I felt during that time of my life.
Buying my first FM album, putting it in the CD player and getting goosebumps, I knew right away that this was the best band ever.
Telling everyone on May 26: "Happy Stevie Nicks' birthday" They all looked at me and said "Who?" Getting the word out!
…When I attended a Stevie Nicks concert. She was going down the line, shaking everyone's hand, and instead of me reaching up for her hand, she looked down at me, reached way out, (I'm pretty short and was hidden well in crowd) and grabbed my hand! It is something I will remember forever.
I dressed up as Stevie Nicks and did Gold Dust Woman for mock rock at our school and won FIRST place.
... When they played in quad cities Illinios....."the Dance" It was the hottest concert of the year...sold out....I SNUCK IN>>>I BROKE SECURITY AND GOT IN!!! what a
blast…
Amsterdam Concertgebouw-concert when the intro of Man of the world was played, nobody seemed to recognise the song and the band broke it off. John threw his almost empty bottle of whisky high in the air. After that they must have been a different band, I guess. They never played the song that night.
My daughter is named Sara. That says it all.
Meeting Mick and talking blues at his Alexandria blud a few years back. He bought me a beer.
At the of a show on the Enchanted tour,me and my mom were waiting for my aunt when Miss Stevie Nicks herself drives by in her limo, and because no one else was there, waves right at me! I was so shocked i just stood there as she just drove a way.
…A group of us went to see them [in 1976] at what they (the promoter) called a "summer jam". We all were really curious especially about the "women" of the band. It was really rare at this time to have women in a band, not to mention the fact that every single member was so attractive! But once we saw them live and Stevie started singing her songs, it was like all eyes were locked on her. Stevie had her black chiffon flowing in the wind, her top hat & boots and she would move her arms so gracefully that she took my breath away.....We immediately claimed her as "ours" and anything she did from there on was
amazing.
The day I made some boy fall for me by singing Silver Springs
Was talking to Mick Fleetwood on Rockline many years ago from a station out of Detroit!
I am in the Trojan Marching Band, and I got to be one of the 70 performers when we played "Tusk" and "Don't Stop" on "The Dance." …one moment that sticks out of my head the most. After the first day of rehearsals, we were doing our tradition of linging up and hearing instructions and call times for the next day, and the members of FM were standing around watching what we do. When we finished our tradition (SoCal SPellout, then we play "Conquest"- we do this after every rehearsal and game) we decided to serenade them with our version of "Tusk" which we have been playing since 1979. So the members of FM stood there and watched us do our thing. … generally a great moment…What a great bunch of people they are!
The very first time I saw them on the Midnight Special in 75 or 76 and saw them do Rhiannon I was spellbound. It was heaven to me. I knew then that Stevie was someone that would be huge
The first time I heard the song "Storms," I was going through some difficult times in my relationship. The
lyrics were so hauntingly precise to my situation, I could no longer deny that I had some sort of extra
sensory relationship with these five people.
Finally getting a Rick Turner Model 1 guitar.
Definately watching the Dance. That is what got my generation into Fleetwood Mac. It's magical because the pain is behind them and they are celebrating their fame, stories, and most importantly, their friendship.
Ok the one song that truly got me into Mac was when I saw Stevie Nicks singing Gold Dust Woman on the Dance...I was watching/taping it off of tv for a report I was doing on Mac...since I couldn't do one on ^^A^^ (it was modern european history) so I did a report on the blues side of influence of Aerosmith which was Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac...
I can remember coming home from a day of hell and putting in Rumours and it made me feel like living for something.
When I first borrowed Rumours from my dad (hehehe, I think that's called stealing, he hasn't gotten it back :)
going to the Kentucky Derby one year (1978? 1980? somewhere around there) and seeing John McVie standing right in front of me! I was too surprised to say anything to him. OK, if it wasn't him, then it was a DAMN good likeness of him...
I'm not ashamed to admit this, but, since I'm so obsessed with Stand Back, I decided to make my band learn it. Imagine us four guys playing Stand Back! [It] has the perfect musically uplifting, driving force that moves me. And its weird because of the simplicity of the song, it's the same three chords! Anyway, I never get sick of it, and never will
My mom saw them in Seattle while they were on the Tusk tour. She was 7 months pregnant with me! That's one of my favorite stories... must be why I like them so much!
I met one of the most wonderful guys on my Stevie-homepage.
Watching Lindsey play go insane on the Dance video. The energy and emotion he put into the music was phoenomenal!
Hearing Go Your Own Way, just when I needed it.
