Having the opportunity to do an interview w/ Mick Fleetwood, a few months back. We talked about the early days, w/ Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer and all the rest. The interview went on for over an hour . . . a very intense hour.
I just really enjoy their music, especially in a mellow moment or to make a happier mood.
Watching THE DANCE on TV last night, and now getting excited about being able to see them live for the first time.
Going on stage with them when I was about three years old and getting really scared at the sight of Mick's black eye makeup and scary facials! Or, riding in the limo with them to the hotel...it was my first time in a limo-I thought I was so cool. (Lindsey's niece)
My favorite experience was being able to see FM in the Behind The Mask Tour. That ended a 15 year dream to see them !! A friend of mine bought the ticket ($110.00) for me and it was the best birthday/friendship gift I ever received!! I had a blast at the concert, was 4 rows away from Stevie, and Mick was Rockin'! Best concert I ever went too !!!
I saw Stevie on her Street Angel tour and she performed 'Rhiannon', 'The Chain', and 'Gold Dust Woman' which I knew she hadn't performed in a while...those were the best moments of a concert that I describe as a religious experience to this day!
I'm only 16 so I have to say...Discovering Fleetwood Mac--helped me discover music as a whole. I've got great taste in music now--and it all started with The Mac!!
When I finally got close..second row...I stood and danced the whole time,I was so shocked that no one else was at times and I even sat down when I didn't want to because I was literally the only one standing.....I sang every word to every song....I cried quite a bit..I was finally living out one of my adolescent dreams....I just wish Lindsey was with them.....It was still the most memorable and enjoyable concert I have ever been at.
I've seen FM twice and Stevie Nicks 3 or 4 times. My most memorable is probably the first time I saw FM in 1982 for the Mirage tour. I've been a fan since 1977, and so the excitement of seeing them for the first time is unforgettable. Also every performance of Stevie Nicks that I've seen, has left me mesmerized.
Their last concert at the Oakland Coliseum, when Lindsey made a special appearance. I was with someone very special to me and it made our night. Also I have a second teaching my children who they are because I have a penguin tattoo.
When my Dad and I met John McVie. We went to a concert in Hartford, CT a few years ago. We had seats in the back of the amphitheater but when FM came on, my dad convinced one of the security guards to let us go down to the front and we ended up in the third row! It was amazing. After the concert, we waited as close as we could to their bus and after some talking, he convinced another guard to ask John McVie to come out and talk to some fans. He walked out to us and he talked with my dad and me for quite awhile. He was so quiet, friendly, and lighthearted it was hard to believe we were standing only feet away from a man who is a part of Rock history. Simply amazing.
Living in Australia, opportunities to see Stevie/Fleetwood Mac have been limited. However in 1990 I wrote to Stevie and received a wonderful letter back from Ginny. Finding a restaurant 15 minutes from my home called "Rhiannon's" run by another huge Stevie fan and being able to spend the night swapping stories with him and enjoying his fabulous paintings and photos of Stevie as well as a great meal.
Seeing them with REO Speedwagon and Pat Benatar at the Blockbuster Pavilion. I remember thinking that they would be so much better if only it were the ORIGINAL members! I also saw them - I think somewhere in Ventura County, CA - and it was a free KLOS concert.
During the Mirage tour, some friends & I drove from Cleveland to Detroit on the day of the show in hopes of getting tickets. We got behind the stage seats over the stage entrance. At the end of the show, after many drinks, I yelled to Christine McVie and asked if she would marry me. Perhaps (?) she had a few drinks also, she yelled back "YES!" I've not seen her since.
Getting [it on with] this Brazilian girl in Switzerland while Sara was playing in the background.
When Stevie sent me a signed picture of her after she got out of the hospital in the mid 80's.
Learning after being a big Stevie Nicks fan for three years, that she was a member of Fleetwood Mac, the same band that did all those wonderful songs like Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, and Dreams (yes, I didn't realize Stevie sang that song; I only knew her solo work). I felt like an idiot, and I love Fleetwood Mac even without Stevie.
Saw the group at Chapel Hill in '90 or '91 with my wife (I think it was the final tour with C. McVie/S. Nicks). She liked the '70s FM, but I'm a '67-'70 fan. They did play "Stop Messin' Around" as a tribute to Peter Green. It was a good concert. Miss ya' Peter!
All the Fleetwood Mac Concerts I went to; the final concert at the Forum in Dec '90 with Lindsey playing guitar while Stevie sang Landslide.
Meeting both Lindsey and Stevie on their last solo tours.
Buying their Greatest Hits CD 3 years ago when I first discovered them - the first Mac album I ever bought. I was sooooo excited - I listened to the album in its entirety like 4 times that very day!
I don't know. I'm only 11. I don't have one yet, but soon hopefully. I especially want to see Stevie! Who doesn't? I saw them in concert on T.V. once and that was cool. Whenever I listen to them, it's a new experience.
Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see "The Green God" play. I saw FM the first time in Pittsburgh in 1974, just as Buckingham-Nicks joined the band. I was very impressed with Lindsey Buckingham's playing, Christine's singing and Stevie's stage presence. It was a great show!
Watching a 20 year-old, barefooted, no-nickered, sun dress clad lass dance to Fleetwood Mac with the joyful abandon which gives life its spark.
The Rock Superbowl in Orlando around 1983. Stevie was singing the song " Gypsy " when lightening came out of a perfectly clear night sky for the length of her song. It was a typically "cosmic" Stevie experience.
Seeing them live for the first time on the Tusk tour. It was a truly magical experience. That first time was the best, not to be forgotten.
When I bought their Greatest Hits for my Dad for his birthday, then listening to it in the car and realizing that all these great songs I had heard before were done by just one band. I was 10 and I thought the earth revolved around Zeppelin (it still does).
Hearing Mystery to Me at a party in 1973 and being blown away. Knew little of FM at that time, but became a devoted fan that night. Also, seeing Lindsey at a concert in Vancouver in '93(?) Opening accoustic number of "Big Love" had us spellbound. Realized then that the man was a genius.
Saw them in concert in Madison, Wisconsin, April 1980, during the Tusk tour. My friend and I got to stand right next to the stage, in front of Lindsey and 6 feet away from Stevie. Near the end of the concert, Stevie knelt down at the edge of the stage and extended her hand in my direction. I tried to reach hers, but there was a stage monitor between us, and I nearly knocked it over trying to touch her hand. She then pulled away and blew me a kiss. I'll never forget that moment!
A full moon against a crystal clear sky in the Florida Keys...A secluded coral reef penisula on the far side of a Mangrove swamp...my best friend, a Jeep CJ with a great stereo, two incredible girls from Maryland, a bonfire and a live version of "Sisters of the Moon".
When I listened to "Cerulean"- live 69 In this time, I started [to] play [the] blues.
Between 1980-1984 I worked in radio in a small Canadian town. In Summer 81, at age 18, with more balls than brains I decided to fly to
LA for vacation. As a big Mac fan I decided to call Penguin Promotions and ask if I could visit! Judy Wong welcomed me to the Sunset-Gower Studio office with open arms, chatted all afternoon with me about the band and
her daily affairs, gave me a pile of promotional LP's, and invited me back on my trip the following Summer! I didn't meet any of the band members on either occasion, but Judy made me feel as if I had, and that we I was part of the Mac family. I'm actually sorry I lost touch with her over the years.
I'll always remember the first time I saw them in concert at Milwaukee County Stadium - the lights went
down and I saw the band walking from backstage(through binoculars of course) and saw Stevie in silhouette, tophat and all. It was just an
amazing image that I'll never forget.
When I saw them in concert at the Palace in Michigan. I was in a trance for days. And I got my first official Fleetwood
Mac T-Shirt with the penguin on the back!
I remember the first day I really started to listen to FM. I'm 21 so, of course, I had heard some of their music while growing up. I had just broke up with my fiancee, when I heard my brother singing "Dreams" , I asked him if he had the CD-- he said it was his friend's but he would lend it to me. The minute I heard those songs a tremendeous feeling came over me, I still can't explain it, but such songs as Rhiannon and Dreams gave me unknown strength to continue. I've been a loyal fan ever since!
Giving Stevie a hug (this is a Stevie experience) at Concord pavillion near San Francisco. I had front row seats and had 3 dozen white & red roses to give to her.
The 1990 tour - I saw them at Manchester Main road stadium. I went on my own to this one (I'd seen them back in 1988 at the same place) and everyone made me feel so much a part of the experience - sharing everything. The opening sequence combining 'In The Back Of My Mind' with 'The Chain' while the curtain came up still sends shivers down my spine when I hear the recording of the concert.
When I was 15 and saw Stevie for the first and only time during her Other Side Of the Mirror tour. I dragged my sister and my mom to the Miami Arena and waited impatiently for Stevie to come on stage after the opening act. All of a sudden the Arena went black and the sold out crowd screamed out of control. That performance, even after we heard the next day on the radio that Stevie was deathly ill during the show, was the best experience of my life. She left an everlasting impression on a young teenage boy that I will not ever forget. Magical and enchanting, I CAN'T WAIT for the next time...
Tried, unsuccesfully, to get FM private concert tickets in Burbank, CA. I tried to get them through the radio Star in Los Angeles, I heard the radio all day long, and everytime they announced the tickets I called from all (3) the lines in my office, but I couldn't get them. (This is your favorite experience ?!)
Anything and everything having to do with FM is a fabulous experience to me! I'm looking forward to my first LIVE concert at their Reunion Tour this coming August and September!!
Drawing caricatures of the band. They came out pretty good, too. (An excellent example is depicted at left! Thanks to our caricaturist, Jennifer Albright, for mailing it to us to scan)
No favorite experience, only saw them once with Buckingham-Nicks, like Peter's band better. Do have a favorite album cover, though: The Pious Bird of Good Omen. Glad I could find that on vinyl!!!
The excitement when I heard about the reunion. I just hope they come to Australia. [ :-( Maybe better next time...]
Intimate moments in college with Rumours playing in the background.
When I found Mr. Wonderful in a Swedish record store for just 75 Swedish krones.
In 1976, I went on a family outing. We were listening to an AM radio station and an unfamiliar song came on.
My middle sister who was siting in the back seat tapped my shoulder and said that's the song I was telling you about. I leaned over and turned up the radio
and the sound I heard was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard. The song was "Rhiannon". I have to admit that I was a serious Stevie addict until my
early twenties. But as I got older I began to appreciate her more as an artist than this larger-than-life-someone-I-wanted-to-be superstar.
In 1986 I saw Stevie at her worst on stage. I was very dissapointed so I got up to walk out of the concert. As my hands touched the doors to open them, she was
at the part of "Rhiannon" were she said "...don't go, please stay". A really strange feeling came over me and I got out of there very quickly. My musical attention
turned elsewhere. When FM came to town in 1987 without Lindsey I didn't even bother to go. I thought that period of my life was over. FM will always remain a
very special part of my teenage and young adult years. Their music has brought me much pleasure during my darkest hours. And knowing that they produced
some of their finest music during some of their darkest hours helps me to appreciate them even more. I'm glad the Rumours era Mac is back together. I'm looking
forward to taking my husband (who has never seen them) to their show when they tour. Now I can see them with my eyes wide open. It will be awesomely real, I'm
sure of it!
So far, since I have never seen them live...is listening to Sara live a million times in my '70 Camaro..getting lost in the music..
All that I can say is that ever since I was born my sister, who is 16 years older than I, has listened to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, so sometimes as I lay back and listen, certain songs bring back memories of my childhood.
I first saw FM in Atlanta, GA, in 1969. If there was one nite in my life I could live over, it would be that night. In nearly 27 years, I've never heard anybody like Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Three lead guitarists: a Memphis blues synthesist, a folk-rocker, and a sometimes Elmo slide man. They each did there own thing, then....they would all start cooking together. Different styles, different riffs, yet it all went together to create a sound I still listen to. I've never grown tired of listening to PG's FM.
At one of my 30-40 Fleetwood Mac shows I finally got a front row seat and during the instrumental to 'Stand Back' Stevie walked over to me and shook my hand.
The time Stevie smiled at me during the premiere of "Interview With The Vampire" in Westwood, CA.
Hearing that they were getting back together and going on tour. I was born not too long before they broke up, and only recently discovered them.
8-1-90 Jones beach....best overall Mac concert I ever saw (then again I've never seen them with Lindsey AND Stevie!)
Listening to Rumours for the first time. It blew me away!!! It was the closest to ecstacy I have ever come to in my short life.
Giving Stevie Nicks a matted and framed watercolor painting of her..and handing it to her on stage at the Toronto 1990 Behind The Mask Tour :)
Seeing them live when I was 14 years old, with a broken leg, on crutches standing on a pickle bucket somewhere around Cinncinati, Ohio.
Driving away from my ex's house singing Goodbye Angel at the top of my lungs was pretty nice.
I have a Rick Turner guitar, like the one Lindsey Buckingham plays, it's wonderful.
When I got the record (I was about 4) I sold the 8-track to someone for $10, then my mother wouldn't let me keep the money.
I've always had a special fondness for Fleetwood Mac because Rumours was the first album I ever bought for myself with my own money.
I saw a pretty sorry version of the band in concert at COMDEX in Las Vegas in 1995. I'm not a major fan of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham,
but I'm glad they've rejoined the band, even if it's just a nostalgia thing. Fleetwood and McVie deserve better than what they had. I'll never forget hearing a
local (Albuquerque) bar band called Traveller do "Tell Me All the Things You Do" for the first time around 1975. (Traveller's lead guitarist, Tim somebody, went
on to play with Rick Springfield in the early 80s.) It's a hell of a song, although the Kiln House version by Mac is weak by comparison with Traveller's version.
I saw Fleetwood Mac in Knoxville, TN. in 1990 & the show was great. But the seats I had were too far back & I could not get a good look at Stevie. The songs done by Christine were beautiful. Mick Fleetwood was jammin' all night. Since then I have really gotten into the band & their music. I am looking forward to the new album & tour. I hope to get closer to Stevie this time.
Never really had a favorite experience, I'm only 21 years old! But, I did get to see Lindsey Buckingham at the Wiltern Theater, Los Angeles in 1992 for his "Out of the Cradle Tour". I was only 17 at time & he kicked ass!
None too exciting yet, when I get backstage passes for this upcoming tour it could happen), then that would be the best experience!
Rumours concert...the first of the tour :)
I have so many memories of sharing stuff with a very few selected group of people, that it was almost Biblical in contrast to my
normal everyday life. I mean right now I'm jamming to SISTERS OF THE MOON from yaa... TUSK o man the flash backs are coming so fast that my mind can hardly
be still to tell my favorite band to quit sulking and get off their duff and get back on the road and start playing. You have millions of fans........Angel just came on...
man this is such a fantastic song ...o my god.... man this brings back memories... o...ya... beautiful. I wish you were all here, man we could have a killer cook out
and jam to some great tunes like Angel drink a few.. jam a few, It would be a great time. If any member of the Mac gets this message, please respond, I'm in the
military... ya go figure,.. any way i'm a computer kinda guy, and ya ... a musician..(guitar) but they want to send me to a combat arms group. I'm not a combat arms
kinda guy... O YA "That's Enough For ME" damn Lindsey man that's cooking... well any way I just wanted to say thanks... O MAN BROWN EYES this song brings
me to my knees... and I'm a pretty hefty Guy anyway I got to go...I love each and every one of you.......Thank you for you beautiful music... please get back to the
way you used to be... no fights no crap...after all isn't it the music that matters most???????? (Someone please get this guy a backstage pass...
I am sure the band would like to plan for this 'killer cook out')
Well, I don't really have that many, but I'd have to say it was when I first heard them. My dad was listening to them, and I was like, who's this? And he said, Fleetwood Mac, and I'd never heard of them, but ever since I've been hooked.
Hearing that Peter Green is doing well and is playing again!
Seeing them in concert on the TUSK tour. I had only had the Rumours album and was expecting to see a very "large-haired" Lindsey-- I spent half the concert wondering who the short-haired man in a suit was.
Listening to their records...I have a lot of favorite times with friends listening to them...Especially with my husband. When they had their mini concert on MTV or VH1 last week I cried....They are superb..Thanks to Fleetwood for your reunion you have brought much happiness to many people..I will be seeing you in Las Vegas!!!YEA!!!!!!!!!
I'm only 15 and my first time experiencing Fleetwood Mac was when Hole covered "Gold Dust Woman" and I really liked the song so I did a little research on Fleetwood Mac and ever since I've really enjoyed their music. Then when I seen the MTV thing Tuesday night, I knew I was hooked.
Well, its actually a Stevie experience...I was at her concert in Daytona Beach. One of my best friends had just recently been in a car
accident and was in a coma. My friend and I used to always sing Stevie's songs. One of our favorites was the Beauty & the Beast. Anyways, when Stevie sang this
song it was like she was singing it for me only! It was absolutely incredible!!!! Just thinking about it gives me chills. Thank God my friend is still alive! Even though
she will never be her "old" self, she still loves Stevie. Thanks Stevie...I will always remember you getting me through a tough time.
Rumours tour, watching LB play and wanting so much to be him. My only concern was how could he leave SN.
When as a child my father and mother would dance me around the room to Fleetwood Mac.
Being new at this, I don't really have one, but watching the TV special with my mom was pretty cool. She gave me all of her FM albums.
Being able to see Fleetwood Mac each time they come to Detroit is a thrill for me.
I have seen them in concert since Rumours and everytime they came to the Detroit area after that. I have seen Stevie solo about 5 times and
Christine once. It amazes me that they are still popular today. Their songs stand the test of time!
Since I started listening to them since I was seven I can't really share a favorite experience since while I was growing up they were having band
personel problems, but I am just satisfied by saying buying my first Mac album which was Mirage.
I saw them in St. Louis two nights in a row during the Tusk tour, Nov. 1979. I was standing in a chair
(repeatedly being knocked down by security guards!), and when I managed to get Lindsey's attention, I mouthed the words "I love you!" -he mouthed backed
"What?"-so I repeated my feelings, and he replied with a smile, a thank you, and "I love YOU". I nearly fell off that chair myself...I then did the same with Stevie
( whom I really needed to tell that to), and she smiled and thanked me! I am STILL jazzed by that! (18 years later!!)
The best are driving in my car and 'So Afraid' comes on and by the middle I feel goose bumps going up my spine.
I wish I had a REAL one! I do remember listening to 'Don't Stop' over and over when I broke up with a guy. And I remember
listening to 'Silver Springs' over and over when a guy broke up with me (or, rather, slammed the door in my face). FM writes great breakup songs.
Watching the video 'Big Love' when it came out in the 80's.
Getting to see them in 1990 on the Behind the Mask tour. Rick Vito is a great guitar player by the way. I think he and
Billy Burnette did an excellent job in that group.
The most memorable, and really the only experince I've had would have to be hearing them for the first time on MTV and getting hooked right from the
beginning harmonies of "The Chain." And it continues with watching their performace umpti-million times and listening to "The Dance" everyday. I'm addicted!!
Just being able to listen to the whispers of Stevie in Landslide on the Live '80 Album is magical experience enough for me.
I was born to very young parents of the seventies. In fact Rumours was released the same month and year I was born. My father brought me up
on the music of the time. While other kids were learning "Mary had a little lamb" I was memorizing songs from Fleetwood Mac and other groups from the time. I am
very proud of the fact I was raised on this music. My father will celebrating his 40th B-day soon and I myself will be 21 in Feb.
I just recently got into them but I guess you could say seeing them on MTV's special " The Dance " I couldn't keep my eyes off them. They are just something else altogether that I had never experienced before.
Jamming with Fleetwood Mac, here in Örebro,Sweden, 1969, at a bluesclub called PowerHouse. When I met Peter Green in Stockholm 1983, he remembered our jam. It felt nice!
