Seeing them live in Edinburgh in 1970
I was trying to do homework while listening to Tango for
the first time. I knew Little Lies was going to be big the
minute I heard it. Upon hearing Family Man I gave up on
homework and listened to the rest of the album completely
enraptured. My future wife heard Family Man in the
car so much she thought it was a number one hit.
Catching a rare live radio interview@1987.....
Seeing John and Mick in the flesh for the first time.
It's a tie--I saw Stevie Nicks in concert two years ago, and saw
the new Fleetwood Mac this summer. Both tie for the best show
I've ever seen! Even my cousin, who knew NOTHING about FM,
thought they were fantastic in concert.
The time my VCR accidentally recorded on a blank tape when it wasn't supposed to. Turned out it "accidentally" recorded a block of FM Videos on VH1!!!
Lindsey doing 'Not that Funny' {live}...Stevie performing 'Rhiannon' live
May of 1980, concert for the Tusk tour; You could hear the
whispers in Landslide. Still gives me chills.
Taking our children to Crow Haven in Salem Mass.(we are
Wiccans) and hearing Stevie on the house PA system. Kids
singing Rhiannon and Sara...
A new generation following the ways.
The concert I saw in Australia
The first time that I saw them live, on the Tango in the Night Tour video.
This is embarrassing. . .but my favorite F.Mac experience was in fact a dream I had about 4 years. ago. It involved an overcast sky, a large, gravel-covered parking lot in the mountains somewhere, & huge wooden platforms on which were stacked musical equipment used by the band on the Tusk Tour, much of it covered with giant black tarpaulin flapping in the wind. (I kid you not) I can remember just going crazy over banks & banks of Christine's keyboards -- Wurlitzers, Rhodes, Hammond organs, upright 100-yr-old pianos, clavinets, all sorts of analog equipment. They looked so grand & stately, all stockpiled
there.

I saw them live at the Boston Tea Party 1969.
Getting my [FM] tattoo, which I designed, on my back!! It was the happiest day of my life.
Seeing them Live on stage in 1990 in Vienna, Austria sure was thrilling. But another fine moment was when I got a tape from their first ever gig in August, 1967. Yeah, and changing a few words with John Mayall about his former axeman Peter Green .. and plugging in my old guitar at home and doing "Oh well" (not so well) till my neighbors start banging against the wall.
Seeing them in 1977 in concert.
Seeing them for the first time on the Rumours tour in May of 1977!
I met Stevie Nicks in an elevator at her hotel when she played in Pittsburgh in 94.
Erm...I'm only 18. Give me a few years, OK?
Seeing Fleetwood Mac in KC on their '88 tour.
Seeing Fleetwood Mac in concert for their Behind the Mask tour. I was in the 13th row which was pretty decent. I remember Stevie singing 'Gold Dust Woman' which had to be the best part of the whole concert! I later saw Stevie on her Other Side of the Mirror tour from the 3rd row.
I had the pleasure of meeting Stevie Nicks on two occasions. The first time I met her, she gave me a ring. It had an inscription...SNA '83. It was when she was married to Kim Anderson (The late Robin 'Rhiannon' Anderson's husband) for a short time. That experience was one of the most moving ones I've ever had.
Then Play On still blows my mind every time I listen to it.
Kissing Stevie one on one in the spotlight at East Troy, WI in 1989.
I saw them in concert August 3rd,1995. I have a hat and an emblem pin. The music was bitchin' even though Christine McVie was not there. They rocked the house. Since I'm only 15,I don't have any other experiences about them.
Buying Fleetwood Mac after being a fan and not knowing who Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham were and taking it home and listening and being blown away. Hearing FM play at Winterland in SF right after [the white album] came out.
Beacon Theater, NYC, August 1994. Great show. Bekka's version of "Imagine" was amazing.
Seeing them in the Philadelphia John F. Kennedy Center before 100,000 fans. The bill included Bob Welch and Steve Miller. Bob Welch later came on to join Fleetwood Mac for a few songs during their set.
I only saw FM at Kings Island August 3rd,1995. I didn't have enough money for any t-shirts, and Bekka's rendition of "Say You Love Me" was fabulous.
Seeing them in concert 3 times in one summer! However that was not enough!
Blasting Rumours goin' 70 on I-35.
No favorite, but every album carries it's own set of fond memories.
Saw Christie at Great Adventure. When she dedicated a song to those who had lost their lives in the haunted house fire, there wasn't a dry eye to be found. I was also there the day the fire occurred.
I used to get stoned, listen to Stevie Nicks songs, and cry. Now, I don't get stoned, I drink wine. (I still cry.)
A concert at Houston's arena theater where the theater was so small the band had to walk right past me to get on stage! It was Great! My only regret was that it was after the Stevie Nicks/Lindsey Buckingham group (What's the point, right?) But they were great!
Other than seeing FM once, and Stevie (solo) 6 times, I can't think of much more.
Christine McVie Solo concert in a small bar in Cleveland.
Seeing them in concert on the Rumours tour (albeit after Lindsey cut off his hair), in Mobile, Alabama. Probably the most overwhelming concert I've ever been to.
I had my real conversion when my older brother got me a tape of Mystery
to Me for my birthday, I think 11th or 12th. I'm sure he got this title by
accident, knowing how much thought he puts into shopping. :)
Anyway, I was really grooved by it, and I went on to explore what I call
"Both sides of F.Mac"... pre- and post- Stevie. Must say I prefer pre-,
even though Peter Green doesn't bring me to my knees like others.
Staying up late at night and catching them on Rock Concert several years ago!
I got the boxed set through a cd club by accident and got to keep it for free.
None..... but... I was 15km away from them once.....
When I touched Stevie's left hand at a concert in Sacramento.
Is...putting on the walkman and listening to old FM blues albums, and rocking seriously, while my kids listen to George Strait. They ask, "Mom, why's dad acting like that?"
Searching all of New York City for a Street Angel Promo Poster...It was a beautiful poster plastered up all over old buildings, construction sites, etc....My friends and I drove all over looking for one I could scrape or chip off a wall. They were all glued so tight! Finally I got one.....Unfortunately it was too messed up from all the glue and my chipping it off....(big surprise huh?)
Seeing them on four different occasions.
Spending US$180 on a cab ride from Anaheim to The Forum in LA to see Stevie & Christine perform with The Mac for the last time. (Lindsey also played this night). It was worth
every last cent.
Actually, a near experience. I'm now the Sr. buyer at Camelot Music, but I believe they came to our home office a few months before I was moved there...Damn!
Staying up until 4:00 AM at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Colorado) to be in "The Sky's the Limit" Video. Telling jokes on stage was fun too!
On the box set there is an outake called something like Teenage Howl. My friend played it for me before I heard it played by F.M. I did not believe it was one of their's and got in a huge fight.
Being almost convinced last summer that I was going to get to tour with the band. I never even got a phone call
but I did learn some ass-kicking new guitar licks!
Seeing 'Hold Me' video as a teenie-bopper...being given FM gifts from my best friend I was all alone one night in a small town in Germany and
kinda lonely and couldn't sleep, so I flipped around the radio, hearing all sorts of German language stuff I couldn't understand. Then suddenly, I tuned in the armed-forces network and heard an interview in English with Fleetwood Mac. And my best friend later bought me the CD-rom set of that interview. She's a good friend, eh???
Sitting through the "Tusk" album for the first time...one of the most underrated rock albums of all time.
The only experience I have had is sitting and listening to the words and music and being completely transported to another place and time.
Seeing them reunited at President Clinton's Inaugural Gala!
Seeing Stevie Nicks live, during the summer of 1994. I was so overwhelmed by her presence. When she tore into "Rhiannon" and drew into herself, it was truly a religious experience for me.
Hearing Tango for the first time, and slowly working my way through the back-catalogue discovering all the great albums.
Driving up to Worchester Mass. from Connecticut when I was in college and using just about all the money I had to see them perform on the Mirage tour. The seats were ok, but I was sitting next to some Mac diehards like myself. I met a lot of really nice people and had a better time than I usually do if I go to concerts with a bunch of friends.
Only saw them live once. It was a great night!....Concert of 1990, I saw stevie face to face. Ah! :>
My wife and I meet and talked to Mick Fleetwood at the Big Time Blues festival a few years ago. He is so cool and tall. We were too star struck to think of much to say, so my wife showed him her penguin pendant. Also my wife once talked to Judy Wong and told her that we would be seeing FM at the Forum in L.A. and that she has done research on Welsh Mythology and Rhiannon. Judy said that she would tell Stevie Nicks about us. During the show Stevie seemed to look right at us. And we were quite far away. It was weird!
The first time I heard 'Green Manalishi', it blew me away!!....listening to Rumours for the first time.
Doing an RE exam in the morning and then rushing to Manchester to see them at Maine Road in 1988. A magical experience and amazing concert too. Also looking at and reading a letter from Stevie Nicks sent to a friend of my sister's.
Is...putting on the walkman and listening to old FM blues albums, and rocking seriously, while my kids listen to George Strait. They ask, "Mom, why's dad acting like that?"
I can't pick just one!...Too young to have one...
I saw Buckingham open for Tina Turner in 1994. He was playing an extended guitar solo with a female guitar player for his song This is the Time. Still playing, they proceeded to lay down while he "dry humped" playing the guitar even faster. Two girls got upset and left the concert. It was cool.
Saw them twice in summer of 90.
When I first heard Green Manalishi and Oh Well!
..seeing the 'Big Love' video for the first time...
Seeing them live in Hollywood Florida, Stevie was awesome.
Seeing the Rumours tour at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. Walter Eagan was the warm up act.
Hearing my sister play the Mirage album for the first time - "Straight Back" is a great, moody track...
Too many...7 years old, hearing Rumours "FM" at my grandparents place (they were hip!) in '77...Seeing the Gypsy video for the first time...Tango in the Night on the deck of an aircraft carrier (Yorktown, in Charlottesville), one spring evening in '87...discovering just how good Lindsey _really_ is in the Live "I'm So Afraid"...
I was 16 and decided to go see Fleetwood Mac in Philadelphia because they had a couple new songs out. I took a friend who was a major Stevie Nicks fan. We hardly knew any of the songs, but when we came out, both of us were in awe!! Since then, I've been a junkie!!
In May this year I saw Peter Green take the stage for the first time in ten years! What an emotional experience, I can't begin to describe the feelings that were all around the concert venue. I could go on for ages, please tell me if you want more, but I won't bore you with something that you missed!!!! (Editor's Note: When is Peter's American tour? :) )
When I met Stevie Nicks in Phoenix, and when I listen to their music. It's such a personal experience between band and fan. Also, love talking to fellow wildhearts at the chats and the boards.
I can't say for sure...too many night w/ friends listening to the dreams, the storms, and the players in the rain.!
Living near and frequently visiting Fleetwood's Restaurant and blues venue in Olde Towne Alexandria, VA
Well, I have never seen them in concert or anything, but my former girlfriend and I called each other Stevie and Lindsey. We always listened to Fleetwood Mac together and being together listening to Fleetwood Mac were some of the best times of my life and some of the greatest memories I have.
Reading Mick's book
Hearing Landslide for the first time in a girl's dorm room while we were all partying. Everyone got quiet and just listened to the pure, beautiful sound.
Getting my girlfriend and one of my good friends hooked on Fleetwood Mac...
Listening to Tusk for the first time.
I haven't been fortunate yet to see any of them in concert, YET.
Seeing the original line up in the fall of '69 at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta
Being only 22, I don't have any real experiences, but I can remember when I was very young hearing FM on the radio for the first time, and as I became older, seeing FM and Stevie videos on MTV. Although I never had any experiences, I grew up listening to the music, and like it more today than ever... (Editor's note: Being only 25 and 26, Lisa and I have tons of Fleetwood Mac experiences....)
Seeing the original Mac at the PNE
I just know I'm going to get into trouble just for saying this, but I lost my virginity the day Stevie Nicks' "Street Angel" was released. I also got it the same day.June 7, 1994
3 nights in a row at the Whiskey in Hollywood...also in San Bernardino when Jeremy left and Peter came back to fill in. He played that night in a business suit while the rest of the band was dressed in their regular band clothes. I never heard 3 guys play together like they could along with McVie and Mick. they are my favorite all time group tied with the Beatles.
Years of enjoyment!
Seeing them together for the first time at The Meadowlands in NJ during the Mirage tour.
The second time that I saw the Mac live (July 19, 1995) at Kingswood Music Theatre (Toronto). I was able to swing some backstage passes, and got to talk with Mick Fleetwood for about an hour. It has to be the single greatest day of my life as of yet. For a man that I hold in such reverence to give his time to me was a noble gesture indeed. I gave him a pin with a penguin holding a heart on it, and he put it on right away. He signed a few items for me, too. We talked about Time, Peter Green and many other things. He offered to give me a book that was recently published on "the Green God", but he couldn't find it. The concert itself was incredible, especially "World Turning". I had third row seats, and the band was larger than life. I also was able to meet Bekka Bramlett (a very nice gal, indeed.) and Dave Mason (a fine man, I must say...). Every time that I listen to my Fleetwood Mac albums, I tend to remember this great night. The Mac was important to me before, but that night pretty much made me an eternal fan.
Discovering Fleetwood Mac in 1970
Late 1980's at Irvine Meadows, CA, when the Burnette-Vito lineup actually played "Stop Messin' Round". I thought I would faint.
Hearing 'Oh Well' for the first several times. It was unGodly amazing. I pictured whips cracking, fire exploding...
Having the opportunity to see the band on their 1975/76 tour. Wow! Also, doing an interview w/ Mick which went on for an hour plus. A quite emotional experience as Mick spoke out about Peter and other members of the Chain.
I saw them in Atlanta in 1975 on Halloween night. They warmed up Jefferson Starship. I was on the 4th row. Took pictures, had a blast!
Seeing them in concert in 1990. I think it was Stevie's last tour with the band. She performed "Rhiannon" which she hadn't done live in a long time. She seemed so much more happy and lively than when I saw her solo in 1989. They had a great set and it was a great concert.
Playing the old 45 "Rhiannon" over and over and over, until my brother flung in into the wall and it cracked and shattered into a million pieces. Today I still listen to the same song, but on my CD player, and it is my brother who is the one who is cracked and shattered and out of my life, sad but true. Moral: Don't mess with my music!
Seeing Mick backstage at a concert (although from a distance).
Getting to know the band by getting into Lindsey first [through Go Insane], then by getting into Tango, Tusk, Rumours and more. While Lindsey's definitely my favorite [I'm a singer/songwriter, and he's a BIG inspiration] there have been few rhythm sections as naturally perfect as McVie-Fleetwood, and Christine's voice is heaven.
Realizing how cool they are after never really noticing before!
Seeing Bob Welch at the Armadillo World Headquarters. I was at the front, and on a couple of songs I mouthed the words and played air guitar. Twice, he came over to me ! and "jammed out" with me. I'm a semi-professional musician now, and like Mick Fleetwood I can say, "God bless Bob Welch."
Watching them playing in Leiden (Holland), December 1995.
Ninth-row for the Behind The Mask tour. And seeing Lindsey live was a real blast as well, esp. the solo acoustic versions of "Go Insane" and "Big Love."
When I was little, my parents would overplay the Rumors album. I was sick of it. My dad dubbed a video tape of my very first birthday with the music, as well as Chicago, and I just could not stand it. Anyway, my parents dragged me to a concert in Dallas and I fell in love with the music. This was quite a while ago, but I still remember it. Anyway, nowadays, I am the one overplaying the Rumors album and stuff. I just wish I hadn't been so harsh on my parents.
Attending Lindsey Buckingham's 1993 show at Bimbo's 365,in my hometown of San Francisco.
On June 17th 1995 FM travelled from Berlin (Airport Tempelhof-THF) to Copenhagen after gig in Berlin. I work on passenger check-in and a colleague on next counter checked them in. It was a group of total 12 but I only knew Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Billy Burnette. I was especially impressed by Mick because he's taller and slimmer than I thought. I'm a great FM fan so this situation was very exciting for me.
The Behind The Mask Concert I attended in 1991.
Madison Square Garden - June 1977 - at 13 it was my first concert and a life altering experience.
My high school graduation (1982) song was "Don't Stop"! Sadly, I have never seen the Mac live, and have only been to one Nicks concert (Rock A Little tour).
I've been fortunate enough to have met all 5 members of the 75-89 incarnation of F.M. at various times and in various cities. The stories are too numerous to mention, but I must say that each one of those experiences were very memorable.
Just discovered them last year. All I can say is buying Rumours at a Walmart this summer.
About the only thing is seeing Stevie on her 1994 Street Angel tour.
One day, looking down at my Mirage CD, and seeing in the interlocking hands of lindsey, stevie and christine, the face of an old woman...a mirage or reality!!!??? And then
wondering if I am the only one who has ever seen it...I've never read anything about that, and i always wondered and still do if this is common knowledge that I was never aware of.
I was born in 1975, but my earliest Fleetwood Mac memory is of me riding with my mom in her beetle Volkswagen. Whenever we'd go for a drive, she'd pop in the Rumours 8-track. We'd listen to it over and over. The 8-track (and the beetle) are long gone now, but I've since completed my FM album collection on cd. This is a vital collection to my music library!
Tusk tour - 5th row seats - Lindsey singing "It Ain't That Funny" ... Seeing Stevie At Radio City. Front row seats
Getting the album Rumours for my 18th birthday and playing the crap out of it. I went through 5 copies!
Shaking hands with Stevie from the front row in Toronto on the Behind the Mask tour.
The opening of the Behind the Mask tour with Stevie's battle cry!!!
Recording most of Stevie Nicks' song on one tape to hear over and over. There are several other FM song I listen to also...they are the best. I wish they could get back together.
Learning that F.M. existed WAY before Rumours, and that the original band was an INCREDIBLE band !
I'm ONLY 15, so I have none. I do, however, hope to someday.
Listening for the early Greatest hits and Gold Dust Woman for the first time.
This August, I went to summer camp and was in a cabin of 8 girls my age. I was there for 2 weeks and right in the middle of the 1st week, somehow one of my cabin mates found my tape I'd been hiding (we weren't supposed to bring walkmans or tapes, and besides, I thought I'd be ridiculed and ostracized for my musical tastes). It turned out that she was hooked on Mac too. For several days we kept our secret hidden from the rest of the cabin, sneaking out in the middle of the night to listen to our collection in the safety of the outhouse. We held hushed conversations at lunch about our favorite band and wrote coded messages with song lyrics to each other. Eventually, the rest of the cabin found out, and instead of being teased as we had anticipated, we were greeted with open arms! Four of the other girls were also hiding this obsession from the others, and the two left were vaguely aware of the familiar sounding name and were willing to be refreshed. At the end of the two weeks, we were a cabin of FM junkies, listening to them every chance we got and collaborating all available information. We affectionately called each other by the names of the band members (I was the late, great Christine McVie). We keep in touch, and now that I know about this web site, I'll tell them immediately!
Seeing their last concert with Stevie Nicks, and the surprise appearance of Lindsey Buckingham.
Seeing Stevie Nicks play live in the Boston Common in October of 1996. She was brilliant!
Hearing the song Tusk for the first time. It was my introduction to FM. I have owned it in every form from 8-Track to CD and the vinyl is still my favorite. The experience and emotion Stevie put into "sisters" translated me. Seeing her perform it live was even more mesmerizing. From that point on I have collected as much of her output as I could find. I still don't have it all, but I'm working on it.
I don't have any FM experience because I was only 5 years old when Lindsey left the band, therefore nearly destroying my chances to ever see a true FM show. That's why I'm rooting so hard for this reunion thing.
Something totally memorable is coming up, hopefully.
Haven't had any yet, I'm only 16, but I'm looking forward to the reunion tour later this year. Maybe my luck will change!!!!
