Janet Robin |
such as Lindsey Buckingham, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Chrissie Hynde, Aimee Mann, Elvis Costello, and Harry Nilsson, Janet
Robin has been honing her own musical craft. Driven by memorable guitar work,
Janet’s songs place great emphasis on melodic arrangements with expressive
vocals and lyrics. Her style has been described as “edgy electro-acoustic pop”
(LA Weekly) with “gutsy original songs” (AXIS Music and Media) and her
performances as “rockin’ with excellent songs and guitar work” (LA Weekly).
ollowing in the footsteps of one of her brothers, Janet’s broad musical history in Los Angeles began when she started to play guitar at age six,
studying guitar with the (late great) Randy Rhoads, who taught locally in
Janet’s neighborhood. Whereas her brother eventually grew up to become a
dentist, she continued on playing and writing with local neighborhood bands.
ventually joining the LA all-girl rock band, Precious Metal, Janet
established a reputation as a guitarist/background singer. After band

struggles and eventual break-up, Janet landed a spot in Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham’s band. She toured with Lindsey on two U.S. and Canadian
tours (one opening for Tina Turner), and recorded with him in the studio.
fter working as a touring musician for a few years, Janet decided to break
out on her own as a solo artist- writing, recording and touring. Her CD
entitled “Open the Door,” features 13 original diverse songs and is described
as “Smart, savvy, fuzzy, hooky pop...” (Buzz Weekly).
Co-produced with Mark Karan, “Open the Door” is released on Janet’s own
independent label, Little Sister Records, and is available by mail-order and
through internet distribution (including autographed copies through The Penguin's Album Corner now!).
mongst continuous playing of her own shows locally and on the road, Janet has

also opened for
Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart), The Wild Colonials, Catie Curtis, Loudon
Wainwright III, Maia Sharp, Buckethead, the Smithereens, the BusBoys and
other national touring artists. Her vigorous touring nationally has built her
a loyal following and her energetic performances are always received by her
audience with great enthusiasm.
anet Robin's most recent release, Out From Under, was produced mostly in the bedroom of her house in Los Angeles, California and "dives even deeper in styles that range from catchy-pop-rock, to loop-based-hard-driven-rock, to sparse percussive acoustic songs, often heard at her live shows."
