Number of Stranger In This Town (1991) Reviews: 2
This album is excellent for BOTH Bekka and Richie Samb
Reviewer: Natalie Kuehling, November 09, 2001 I have a totally different opinion of Stranger In This Town than the other reviewer, perhaps because I am a Richie Sambora fan as well as a Fleetwood Mac fan, as opposed to JUST a Bon Jovi fan. First, as a review for Sambora, the CD is more blues oriented which is perfect for Bekka. Specifically what she sings on alone with Richie are Church of Desire, and River of Love and she compliments his voice. Stranger In This Town, One Light Burning, Mr. Bluesman (what little background vocals it does have) wouldn't sound right with just Bekka, but she's definitely there! Listen closely. As much as I love this album, I'd say don't buy it on the bias of Richie being Bon Jovi's guitarist, buy it as a fan of the blues! It's the reason I have anything else with Bekka on it!
Bon Jovi fans will like, Bekka fans may not
Reviewer: John Fitzgerald, Human resources staff database assistant February 24, 2001 Bekka is 1 of 6 people listed as background vocalists on the record (not broken down by
song) so as one can imagine, its hard to pick her out of the crowd to ascertain which
songs she's on. Predictably, the rockers on this long player are very Bon Jovi-esque,
particularly, "Rosie" but some of the lighter material is surprisingly pleasant like the
soulful title track and "One light burning". As I'm not really a big Bon Jovi fan, it's hard
to give an objective opinion on this disc but I guess I was disappointed anyway with not
getting to hear Bekka too well although I'm sure Bon Jovi fans will find great enjoyment
from this platter.
