The guy is brilliant
Reviewer: Wayne Pride (waynepride@yahoo.com.au), Musician September 24, 2007 I have Micheals Windsong L.P. ,he is a great writer , a great singer/musician, I also have Conjure Man ,again just brilliant, He has also written songs for numerous Artists ,and worked with , among others my hero Roger Miller. Every song on both albums are standouts, including "Do I ever cross your mind , covered by Ray Charles and Bonnie Rait.
not one, but two solid albums filled w/ great songs
Reviewer: Dave Roberets (dmrofatoz@mac.com), musician & imminent pod-caster April 25, 2006 We're a couple of decades into an age when few albums deliver more then two or three solid, inspired songs. Of course, Michael Smotherman's two self-titled albums are from the late 70's into the early 80's, but for me, the discovery of their song after song , track-by-track joys completely unfolded for me in the 90's! This was when i took them out to burn my favorites to Mini-Disc.....,I got well beyond my initial fave from his 1977 debut ---"I Know, I Know" ...,all the way to the end of side 2!! ___good lord, 10 new must-haves! This process then repeated w/ the 2nd album.,.,.,.,...i couldn't wait to digitize "Crazy In Love" and "Green Eyes" , and i couldn't beLieVe i'd never flipped it over for my new high-rotation smash,,,,that would be "If You Think You're Hurtin' Me (Girl You're Crazy)" ___and two songs later comes "Fais Do Do"!.......were these albums as released by a struggling artist, or greatest-hits collections from a parallel pop-universe?! I can only sum-up by sharing a prayer, perhaps to the gods OF that alternate heaven of hits, that he will someday be released on CD.....but, of course, these modern-times afford oTHer ways of spreading the secrets known to a happy few!
One of the Best Songwriter/Performers Ever
Reviewer: Anonymous, November 22, 2004 I guess I am too a little biased. Michael is my uncle, and this cat rocks.
