ILLNESS FORCES STEVIE NICKS TO POSTPONE ARENA CONCERT

Stevie Nicks' performance at the Orlando Arena tonight has been postponed indefinitely because the pop singer is ill, promoters said Thursday afternoon.

They were not certain of the nature of Nicks' illness, and did not know whether Nicks would be well in time for concerts scheduled for the University of South Florida in Tampa on Sunday and the University of Florida in Gainesville on Tuesday.

Joe Lambusta, of Magic Productions, said he hopes to reschedule the Orlando Arena concert, which was to have featured the Hooters as opening act. Lambusta said a new date had not yet been arranged.

If the show is rescheduled, tickets for tonight's show will be honored. Refunds may also be obtained at the point of purchase.

The 41-year-old Nicks, of Fleetwood Mac fame, has been touring the country in support of her solo album The Other Side of the Mirror. Her hoarse vocals have distinguished such Fleetwood Mac hits as ''Rhiannon'' and ''Dreams'' and the recent solo hit ''Rooms on Fire.''
