THE MAC IS BACK... and more AWESOME than ever!!!!

I knew a lot of the songs prior to the show as my husband is a huge Fleetwood fanatic, but I was not a huge fan. My neighbors are also huge fans and have been playing the music for weeks leading up to the show. After going to the show I am now a fanatic also. I have not shut off the CD's (The Dance, etc.) of the MAC that are in our home or vehicles. I absolutley loved Lindsey Buckingham and his performance of "BIG LOVE" and "I'm So Affraid". I have never seen anyone who has played with so much passion and love of the music. He has deffinately been underrated in my opinion fo many years!! This man is awesome. He ROCKED!!! Any one who thinks that this show was anything less than the absolute best of the best is absolutley CRAZY!! I was in section 120 near the ramp to get on the stage and I thought the sound was excellent as well as the lights in the background. These guys were AWESOME! I am now the biggest Lindsey B. fan. I listen to his songs and even have an Lindsey B. screen saver now.. I have never been a huge fan of Nicks' voice however I thought her much better live than recorded. My husband was a little disappointed at her performance of "Silver Springs" though, but as reserved as he is I caught him many times screaming "more" through this show. He thought Ms. Nicks seemed fatigued. None the less with Mick, John, Lindsey, and "Stephanie" This was the best concert I have ever been to in my short 26 years, and believe me I have seen many shows.. WHo needs Christine anyway.. This one will be hard to beat.. My father in law got the tickest for us as birthday gifts but I would deffinately pay to see them again. I have even thought about traveling to the next state to see them. Fleetwood Mac needs to know that their fans still love them and would love to see them back in GR again, VERY VERY soon....

Incredible show!

Having been a huge FM fan for years, I couldn't wait to finally see them in concert and when the day came, I was not to be disappointed. Their energy, stage presence and sound was amazing! Lindsey Buckingham is absolutely incredible live. His voice on "So Afraid" was so full of passion....almost haunting. Stevie Nicks gave an equally fantastic performance as well (as I had expected). The loudness did drown them out a bit on some of the songs but all in all, they sounded sharp, strong, never missing a beat. They gave a passionate, soulful performance. Definately one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Like a great roller coaster ride.... I want to go again!

Great show with surprises

For me a highly anticipated show, having read all previous posts from early shows, listening to the new CD, 1997s The Dance, etc. Overall the show was all I expected but for unexpected reasons.
First, I was blown away at the volume. By all accounts it was too loud, and frankly, something you'd expect from a bar band. I was in the 8th row and having been to hundreds of live concerts (largely The Dead) I have come to appreciate, foremost, the acoustical dynamics that allow proper appreciation of professional world class musicianship. Mac has everything to offer, but unfortunately their genius was distorted much of the time with outright loudness. On acoustic songs like "Big Love" and "Landslide" they gave me all I could hope without the distortion. Unfortunately, and especially for the old pop tunes, the volume took the subtle harmonies and background vocals that make these so damn good, and drowned them to a local singalong.
On the positive side, Nicks showed me more than I had expected, for sure. Not ridiculously emotional (as Id half readied for) but appropriately passionate. Excellent. Even the choreographed stage expressions among the band were subdued, which I respect them for.
As mentioned earlier the insanely wild Buckingham has so much to offer that all audiences need is appropriate presentation from the sound crew. "Come", in my opinion is a slow starter but a perfect vehicle for the "Im So Afraid" "Big Love" "Tusk" psychotic genius. In the end "Come" was in the top 1 or 2 tunes afterwhich I could only shake my head in disbelief. The other was "So Afraid". They are not to be believed. "Big Love" on the other hand was a bit disappointing, relatively speaking, and I thought Lindsay backed off for what appeared to be vocal salvation.
The new tunes were presented in a somewhat less than musically ideal fashion, once again volume drowned. "Peacekeeper" "Whats the World Coming To" and "SYW" were pure top-notch pop (on line with their Rumours quality), and I had hoped for the dynamics, and backup that they deserve. I had hoped that the group would do justice to the new tunes musically but the result was a "Dont Stop"-pop presentation.
To summarize, Nicks better than expected, Lindsay insane in any fashion, especially on "Come", and the sound was acoustically unfair to the band. Still a no miss show, that hopefully will be refined to allow great performers to give great performances.

UNBELIEVABLE LINDSEY PERFORMANCE

After experiencing an incredible show at the Palace in Auburn Hills, but with lousy acoustics, on a whim on Saturday morning, I decided to check to see if tickets were still available for G.R. I felt like I hit the lottery. Two front row seats. Even better, they were directly in front of Lindsey! An incredible performance, especially by L.B. They are hitting their peak on this leg of the tour. The group responded to the crowd's energy and didn't miss a note. When I yelled "Happy Father's Day, Lindsey" he paused, acting pleasantly surprised, and smiled back at my wife and I.

I've been a FM fan for 28 years, but became a serious LB fan after OOTC (I've bought ten copies just to give friends and family). Incredibly, last night, I got to kiss LB's guitar and strum it during GYOW, shake his hand, got his autograph on my ticket and even got LBs set list from a roadie! Being so close, it was like a personal concert. I wish serious LB fans, like myself, could experience a concert like this. An unbelivable performance by a guitar god!

Simply Amazing!

I bought 2 tickets for my girlfriends birthday and, while I knew who Fleetwood Mac was ofcourse, I am way too young to really know a lot about them.

The show was magnificant! That's all I can say, The audience was energetic and the band drew from it. Leaving and returning twice to please the guests! I definitely left van andel, fleetwood mac still ringing in my ears and the songs in my head! The best show i've ever been to!
