What A Show

I came down from Vermont (not that its far, but still....) and what a show. I thought that getting nose bleed seats would suck, but the vantage point we had was unbelievable. we sat to the right of the stage... i cant remember the section, i know it was in the 300's but anyways.... the music was awesome and the absence of Christine didnt hurt the vocal portion of it either... actually, i think they sound more close in thier harmony. The show was fantastic and Tusk sounds better live than on a cd. I wish they would have done Running Through The Garden, but understood why they didnt. This was my first BIG named concert and I will be looking forward to seeing them again.

Must have been a big one...

As I am from Austria you may apologize my english. Unfortunately I was not able to be present at that great gig. Luckily I now possess a recording of that conert (2CD I found on ebay). I've got to say, that what we have here is a bunch of excellent musicians/singers/songwriters performing a whole lotta great songs from past to present. Included are standards such as "I'm so afraid", "Rhiannon", "Landslide", new material like "come" or "peacekeeper" and hardly heard old songs like "second hand news" and a stunning "beautiful child". The sound quality may not be the best but who cares? After all its another live gemm by the greatest band ever. I wish I could have been there.

I came up from Rhode Island to Worcester to attend both of the shows. I arrived at the arena around 7PM with some friends from the Internet who picked me up at my hotel. I go to the Will Call window and pick up my 5th row seat. I get past security with my camera. I head toward my seat, which is in front of Lindsey. This was my 3rd show so far but the one I was most excited about because it was the closest to my hometown.
The show started about 8:30. As the lights went down I could the excitement in the air. The last time I got to see the Mac in this venue was back in 1982.
Again the set list was the same as the other shows that I had gone to see. There were some great moments at this show. During the song Come Lindsey had his eyes closed and he looked like he was having a religious/out of body experience. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and I just felt as if I was at someplace like Woodstock.
I was taking some photos and I think Lindsey saw me and I dont think he minded. I think he kind of liked it as a matter of fact. I was pretty quiet for most of the show trying to take photos. On Tusk and Stand Back I was dancing around. I think that the band sees this and responds favorably to it.
Stevie was in rare form. She seemed so happy to be there. She must have had a great birthday! She sounded great. She did the twirls and danced a bit. I missed seeing the little running in the shadows dance that she does with her hands because I was fiddling with my camera.
There was a guy who during Tusk jumped right on stage. He was dancing around like he was at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert more then a Fleetwood Mac concert. Security was right on him and had him in a headlock. I dont think that Stevie noticed at first but she seemed OK with it.
Well, it was a great first night in New England. I still had one more night to go.

Overall - Average show for Fleetwood Mac

When considering the price of the tickets, the original seating we had, and the incredible traffic jam trying to get to the Centrum - the overall experience was just average. The absence of Christine McVie was more of a factor than I would have thought (her vocal harmonies, more specifically) and the overpowering sounds of bass and drums really detracted from Lindsey and John's guitar playing, and more importantly Stevie's singing.

Eventually, we were able to move from our original seats to others that were in a little better location with improved sound quality. Still, from a veteran touring band of this magnitude and experience - we should not have been subjected to such a poor sound quality show. We could barely understand the band when they were speaking between songs (outlining new members, introducing new songs and story-telling about old ones for that matter)...

We've seen the band and Stevie solo several times and have never experienced such a badly balanced sound performance. I've been to several shows at the Centrum as well and do not remember sound quality ever being an issue w/other bands or artists. Since this
was the 2nd show at this venue, the sound crew should have been able to iron out the kinks before we attended Wed. night's show.

However, despite the sound quality issues, there were several highlights, including Stevie w/ Lindsey doing Landslide, Silver Springs, Lindsey's Big Love, Gold Dust Woman & Go Your Own Way...Excellent variety in their set list as well!!

The Chain has come full circle

I've seen "The Mac" in every incarnation, through every transition since "Buckingham-Nicks". In no way do I want to disparage Mick or John as they're so critically important to the band as an entity.

But Buckingham-Nicks, in spite of their lack-luster debut album oh so many years ago, are right where they were/are meant to be. Their journey has come full circle.

Christine was the only other songwriter, and with no input [except as a small part of this album - mentioned only in the liner note credits] from her this time around, the stage was Stevie and Lindsay's - Perfect [sorry Christine].
