Veteran bluesman records new CD at Peak Recording
The musicians and engineers at Bozeman's Peak Recording Studio knew they were working with a pro when, in August 2007, veteran British blues man Dave Walker stepped up to the microphone and recorded four songs in 50 minutes, just one take on each song. The dynamic result can now be heard on Walking Underwater, Walker's new CD from Iron Horse entertainment, which is now available.
Walker's long-time ability to quicly get to grips with a song has earned him the title of The Voice, a reputation reinforced by his dynamic live performances as the front man for Savoy Brown, Fleetwood Mac and, in recent years, the Dave Walker Band.
During much of 2007, Walker has been quietly writing and recording at his house in Virginia City and at Gil Stober's Peak Recording Studio in Bozeman. Walking Underwater is a collection of blues songs ranging from the hard-rocking 12-bar format to such melodic songs as the title track.
Walking Underwater features the talents of Bob Britten, whom Walker brought in to collaborate on the musical arrangments. Britten also plays organ, piano and the underlying rhythm guitar tracks on the disc. Other musicians featured are Mike Gillan on drums, Craig Hall on bass, Sheamus Conley on lead guitar and Jim Lewis on lead and slide guitar. Lyrics are by Walker, William O'Keefe and Britten; music and arrangements by Walker and Britten.
