Belfast - Maritime Club

I attended a Fleetwood Mac gig in the Maritime in Belfast, N. Ireland. I'm pretty sure it was in 1968, although after all these years the memory can play strange tricks! Please note: it was definitely the Maritime, a small dingy club, not the Ulster Hall.

I notice there is no mention of this gig in your list.

May I also add that this must have been the gig Gary Moore refers to when he saw Peter Green using a Selmer amplifier. Green had arrived with only a guitar and had to hire an amp. He hired my Selmer Thunderbird which I had just traded into Jack Evan's (Lisburn) musical instruments' shop for a Vox AC30. I hated that Selmer and I couldn't believe it when I saw Green using it. Horrible amp!

UK Festivals

Saw Mac at three festivals in the late 60s:
1st September 1968 they headlined the Bluesology Festival in Droitwich near Birmingham, supported by the Move, John Mayall, Geno Washington, Family and many others.
28th June 1969 they headlined the Bath Festival, a one day event including Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, John Mayall, the Nice, Chicken Shack, Taste, etc. No band was supposed to play longer than 30 minutes.
26th September 1969 they headlined the Buxton Festival near Manchester, supported by Family, East of Eden and the Edgar Broughton Band amongst others. This time they played a full "Then Play On" set lasting almost two hours with Peter in full white outfit. Possibly the best gig I've ever attended as all of the support ects were also on top form.

During the late 60's I was lucky to be at most of the out of London gigs as a guest of the Mac. I also managed to get to some of the London gigs without my parents knowledge.

Especially fond memories of the BB King tour at Newcastle, and fond memories of Danny's first gig'

The band gave me lots of happy memories and lots of new friends.
