Return of the Mac man

September 9, 1998: BBC News (September 7): Return of the Mac man: Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green is back with a new album - The Robert Johnson Songbook - after years of battling with mental problems. The 51-year-old quit the band in 1970, tormented by wealth, fame and success. He sold his guitars and gave away his royalty cheques. He hadn't picked up a guitar for over ten years when he started trying to rebuild his career - but now he hopes the new album marks a fresh start. "I've been kind of dead for a long time. I couldn't function at all. I really haven't got it all together yet, but I'm working on it," he said. "I'm still a bit cloggy and foggy. I certainly feel a lot better when I play music, however. I'm glad I'm back being a musician, as opposed to walking around like a piece of stale bread."
