Life ends on sour noteMonday, June 11, 2012 The untimely passing of Bob Welch, by his own hand, proves once again how ego can do irreparable harm to a successful musical career (“Welch, Fleetwood Mac guitarist and singer, dies at 66,” June 8). lt’s one thing to have health issues, as was the case with Welch, but it’s quite another to be excluded from recognition as an integral, hard-working, unselfish member of Fleetwood Mac during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. It’s a hard reminder of the similar unforgivable snub suffered by Brad Delp, the late singer of Boston. It’s unfortunate that a musician’s death serves as a lesson of the pain of being left behind by those who should instead acknowledge everyone’s part in a successful combo.
