Last night, along with thousands of others, I went back in time. Standing in the freezing cold, waiting to see the band of my youth. The night was icy, the wind was cruel, and yet I stood, determined, knowing this would be my last chance. The band was Fleetwood Mac....and it was their reunion tour.
And though I had come to see the band, really, in my heart I had come to see Stevie Nicks, the gypsy of my dreams. I had loved her for 20 years, and once she walked onto the stage I was back in time, and 19 once more....and I didn't feel the cold, didn't feel the wind, and I had the world in the palm of my hand. As we listened, under the clear night sky, with the moon shining down, it didn't matter we were outside. It didn't matter that it was freezing. All that matter was the music and the memories. She sang and danced, and I remembered my youth, and sang with her. It was magical. Standing for the entire time, I went from 39 to 19 in an instance, and I felt young. She was still so beautiful, her blonde hair shining, her voice grabbing my soul, and no amount of money could have dragged me away. The songs came and went, and still we sang, and cheered and yelled for more. Only with the final songs did I finally feel my age, and the cold started to break through the spell, and it was time to leave. She had managed for hours to make me believe that I could relive my youth, that dreams did come true....

A Birthday Wish Fulfilled

Well, after a 6 hour drive back from Atlanta I seem to have this permanent cheesy grin on my face. The Atlanta show rocked!! I was really worried that the show might get cancelled because of the weather. It was sooo cold, and it had been drizzling earlier in the day also. We arrived at the ampitheater at 6:30. As mentioned in the other reviews, there was a generator problem, and even a small chance that the band would't play (I would have died!!!). Finally right before 8:00 the gates opened.
I walked around to go meet Pat from the Ledge. We talked for a while and then both decided to go hunt our seats. When I finally walked onto the floor and found my seat I thought I was going to fall out. I was sitting on 11th row center, but on an aisle seat in "PERFECT" view of Christine's spot! This really stoked me out because unlike most people, Chris is my fave. At my seat I met another ledgie friend Missy, who was sitting right behind me. We giggled about how close our seats were. Because we really could see good. Finally CRICKETS, CRICKETS....Missy and I screamed ,we knew it was time!! I was completely in awe when they walked out. I got chills all over. There they were right in front of me. WOW.
Christine and Stevie looked so beautiful. Chris was wearing the dance outfit with a red scarf. She was also wearing these cool black gloves with the fingers cut out. Stevie had on lots of layers, and of course platform boots and shawls. I think Lindsey even had on a black scarf at the beginning. He said to us "We'll stick it out if you will!" Everyone screamed and clapped. The crowd was really into the show, standing almost the whole time. The band seemed to be having fun,especially after the first few songs. I think they got warmed up:)
The set list was the same. The entire show was a highlight for me but just to mention a few.....
*Landslide* Stevie stood right behind Lindsey while he played. They were sooo close to each other. She was smiling during "snow covered hills", and they hugged after.
* Big Love* This was too intense. Lindsey got a standing ovation. I believe this is one of the songs in which broke a guitar string. He also broke strings during *Not That Funny* and *GYOW* too. *GYOW* was a jam out! Lindsey ran over to Chris and banged his head on her keyboard. He was so energetic and fun the whole time!
* You Make Loving Fun* I was looking so forward to this one! Chris was rocking and dancing. And Mick and John sounded really good. Lindsey played the cool guitar bit after "Yoouu, you make lovin' fun...guitar,guitar, ...and I don't have to tell you.."-- You know what I mean! I was loving life at this moment:) I think Chris saw me dancing in the aisle! (I was the one with the grin from ear to ear).
* Stand Back* Man, what can I say about this one except that it was Stevie's moment.The crowd was dancing and singing big time. It seemed like she was really having a blast during this one. What a rocking mama!
* Oh Daddy* This one sounded better than ever before to me! Stevie played these cool little instruments that made some funky sounds.
*Not That Funny* All I can say is that Mick is one crazy, goofy looking guy. He was a trip!
Now the best part of the night...during Don't Stop the security walked off for a second and a few people rushed up front. I grabbed Missy and the next thing I know we were like 5 feet away from the band!!! The stage was right there. This was really like a dream!! it seemed so unreal. After, Chris said "Stick around for one, maybe two more.." Songbird, amazing. Farmer's Daughter, incredible. It was really cool since they lined up and we were so close to all of them. I took some pics, and if they turn out I will send them.
What a wonderful night. Not to mention that it was my 24th birthday and that made it even more special to me. A night that I will never forget. I wonder if Fleetwood Mac knows how happy they are making people?I've never been so happy in my life. Much thanks to them!

Lakewood Amphitheatre Review

It was about 30 degrees with a windchill in the teens when Fleetwood Mac rolled into Atlanta to play at Lakewood last night. Outside the venue, fans piled up outside Lakewood's main entrance until 7:45, when the gates were finally opened. The reason given for this was that the band refused to play until a generator that could heat the stage was brought in. The band appeared at 8:45 with a rousing version of "The Chain." For the next two and a half hours, Fleetwood Mac led the crowd through a musical history of its illustrious past. Though the evening had many highlights, it was obviously clear that last night's show belonged to Lindsey Buckingham. Buckingham worked the audience into a frenzy with "I'm So Afraid." His performance of this classic tune, as well as his classical renderings of "Big Love" and "Go Insane," were among the best performances of the evening. Christine McVie also turned in thoughtful readings of "Everywhere" and "Oh Daddy." Stevie Nicks aroused the audience as the Welsh Witch with her performances on "Gold Dust Woman" and "Silver Springs." Nicks and Buckingham provided the most intense moment of the evening, as they stared each other down during "Silver Springs." After performing such classics as "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop," Christine McVie thanked the audience for "sticking it out in the cold with us." With that, she left the audience with "Songbird," and the band provided excellent harmonies on the Brian Wilson tune, "The Farmer's Daughter." Though it turned out to be a cold evening, fans walked out of Lakewood warmed by the fact that they had the opportunity to see Fleetwood Mac on stage again.
